As an accomplished athlete and coach with an extensive background in athletics, Juan Figueroa is eager to pass along his knowledge and experience to help today’s youth excel in the sport of volleyball. Juan came from a family of athletes – his parents met while playing on the Puertorrican Track & Field National teams, his sister played volleyball at Dickinson State University and is currently a volleyball coach in North Dakota, and his Dad is the Sub-Secretary of Sports and Recreations in Puerto Rico as well as an international referee for basketball. Early on, Juan’s background in sports combined with his passion for volleyball laid the foundations for his future success as an athlete and coach.

In college, Juan’s coach (Turhan Douglas) was criticized for offering him a full scholarship to USC because of his limited height as an outside hitter. During his time at USC, Juan worked extra hard to earn his coaches’ trust and used the criticism of others as motivation to become a better player. He also participated in track & field during his junior year and won the long jump event with a jump of 25ft (the 5th best in the nation that year) and automatically qualified for nationals after only 2 days of practice. Juan is married to Eva Figueroa who he met at USC and has 2 children: Jayden (3) and Mia (7 months).
